Library & Technology Services
San Jacinto Christian Academy is blessed to have two libraries and three computer labs. These have been established and maintained with our school mission and philosophies in mind. They also support our instructional program.
The libraries at SJCA are age-appropriate and easily accessible to each grade level. Each early education teacher has books in the classroom for the students to enjoy. Early education students are introduced to the written word as books are read to them and as they explore books in the learning center each day. The goal of the elementary library is to instill a love of reading and to facilitate the Accelerated Reading program. Elementary students go to the library weekly. Here they are introduced to different genres of books as the librarian reads to them. The librarian takes advantage of these weekly visits to teach age appropriate library and literary skills. Students are allowed to check out books and videotapes to take home.
The librarians have extensive knowledge of the books available in our libraries. They are available to assist teachers in gathering supplementary teaching material for specific units of study. They manage the acquisition of materials, new and donated, for the libraries based on teacher and administrator input. The annual budget provides an adequate amount of funding for the purchase of library materials.
SJCA has two established computer labs and one media center. The computer labs primarily function to teach computer skills. These skills include keyboarding, software application, and research education. The media lab allows secondary students to take dual credit classes as well as facilitates research for assignments. San Jacinto Christian Academy strives to teach students Christ honoring use of technology in our computer labs and media center.
