San Jacinto Christian Academy (SJCA) received initial accreditation in 1991 by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) for grades K – 12th. ACSI is the largest international accrediting body of private and parochial schools. In 2015, SJCA received renewal accreditation through AdvancED, which is a dual accreditation with ACSI and SACS (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools) for grades K – 12th and initial accreditation for the Early Education program.
The Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) promotes the value and worthiness of accreditation and encourages each school and early education program to continuously pursue excellence. The “accredited” seal denotes a school that has met institutional standards of quality and that verifies a commitment to strategic improvement and ongoing accountability. The process of accreditation involves three significant elements:
Intensive, institution-wide self-appraisal, analysis, and improvement planning.
External consultation, review, validation, and insights from a visiting peer group.
Ongoing accountability for improvement through annual reporting and renewal.
Accreditation through SACS and ACSI is recognized nationally and internationally. The Texas Private School Accreditation Commission (TPSAC) recognizes the accreditation status of SACS-ACSI schools. Since 1986, the Texas Education Association (TEA) has recognized the accreditation of TPSAC schools and thus ACSI accredited schools are recognized as well. The cooperation of these educational commissions and associations ensures the ongoing success of private and public educational institutions.
