You Did it! You Drilled a Well in Africa!

March 1st, 2012

The students and faculty at San Jacinto Christian academy gave up drinking anything but water  for 2 weeks in December 2011. SJCA’s goal was to raise enough funds ($20,000) to drill a water well in drought-striken Turkana, Africa.

Students teamed up with the Christian Relief Fund (CRF), H.O.P.E. water project. Students participating in the project gave up drinking all liquids except for water and donated the money they saved by not purchasing soft drinks, coffee, etc to drill the well.

CRF was able to raise the funds through online giving and the money donated by SJCA students. Recently the well was drilled by Christian Relief Fund in Turkana, Africa, one of the areas hardest-hit by the recent drought and famine in the Horn of Africa.  In this region, children walk as much as 10 miles every day to fetch water that is already polluted.

We are excited to share this video that Milton Jones from CRF shared with us. Great job SJCA students! What a blessing your sacrifice has been!

A win win for everyone! Booster club has officially kicked off ticket sales for a grand prize of $20,000. Alumni remember that gym we always dreamed of having? Its finally here but it still needs bleachers. This is a great and easy way to help ensure that generations to come have a great facility for sporting events and anything else we can think of. AND everyone who purchases a ticket has the opportunity to win $20,000.

Spiritual Emphasis Week

January 16th, 2012

Spiritual Emphasis Week was awesome, in the true sense of the meaning of the word – awesome: awe inspiring. Our Lord truly is awe inspiring. What a blessing to have Andy Braner back at SJCA this year to lead chapel times with Elementary, Middle School and High School students. If you were unable to attend the parent training or any of the chapels here is a what our students had to say:

“Andy Braner came to our school to speak.  He literally captured the attention of the middle school students.  He talked about who God is, and how we can find out who He is.  He said that we should not try to find validation in friends, media, or in dating.  He connected with us by not trying to guilt us into finding God, but by applying God to real life situations that we teenagers experience every day.  He knew what we go through and talked about some of the main things we deal with and showed us some Bible verses to guide us.  I feel like I got a lot of good things out of his sermons and this was a great way to start the year.  I hope to hear Mr. Braner speak again.  He truly can change hearts by allowing God to speak through him.  He was a huge blessing to our school.”

  –Baylee Konnecke, 8th Grade

”Spiritual Emphasis week was awesome. All of the students and teachers took off four days out of the week just to listen to God and see what His plans were for our school this new year. The first day of Spiritual Emphasis everyone was laid back. No one was prepared for what God was going to do and what He had in store for us. Andy Braner started off with asking us the question, “Who are you?” This question stumped everyone in the room. Right then and there I could feel God moving in the hearts of His people. He went to all of the people He needed to and did evertyhing He knew He had to do in order to help our school grow into the school it is called to be. The next day of Spiritual Emphasis Andy kept asking hard questions and questions that teenagers don’t often like asking themselves. It was a challenge and I loved it. Everyone loved how this week was so “real.” We got to ask real questions and get real answers. In doing this we all grew so much closer to God. I grew-not only as a teenager-but as a woman of God. I now understand Him much better and I understand who I am much better too. What I loved most about this week is that God moved in ways that no one can explain. He touched hearts of people that thought their hearts could not be touched. He called people to be the soldiers they needed to be and helped them put their identity in Him. I don’t know what God’s plans are for our school and I don’t know every way He moved this week; but hey, I think that God likes to surprise people and I cannot wait to finally see His surprise. I hope everyone that read this will have a blessed day and walk in God’s ever-lasting love.

These are amazing testimonies from our students. Please continue to keep our students, teachers, staff, and SJCA families in your prayers.

San Jacinto Christian Academy’s ultimate goal is to graduate mature students, who live for the glory of God, thinking biblically and critically, demonstrating Christian character and servant leadership through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Together We….were created

December 13th, 2011

I wanted to share a link that I showed in chapel last Thursday.  The theme for the lesson was, “Together We… Sing.”  I told the elementary students that an alternate title could be, “Together We… were created.”  We talked about how we were all created for one purpose – to worship and glorify God. Isaiah 43:7 says, “Everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.” If that is true for humans, wouldn’t it also be the case for all creation?  Psalm 19:1-4 says,

The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.  Day after day they pour forth speech;   night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard.  Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.

In the You Tube video at this link (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zWKm-LZWm4), Louis Giglio gives us a glimpse of the choir that God has created to glorify Him.  Be amazed!!

Blessings –

A glimpse into High School Chapel

November 8th, 2011

Good afternoon from Mr. McKnight.  Each week, I have the unique opportunity to sit in on our High School Chapel, which meets every Tuesday at 8:45am.  Mr. Garner, our high school Bible teacher, supervises a group of students who provide their input into the topics and direction of the chapel service.  The students generally begin chapel by singing several praise and worship songs.  This year, Kaitlin Allen, Braden Deal and Parker Pace are doing an awesome job leading these songs.  Today, the students watched an awesome video by Pastor Francis Chen entitled The Holiness of God.  I thought the message was so simple and yet incredibly powerful that I wanted to share the link with you.  I would encourage you to grab a cup of coffee or hot tea and spend 45 minutes or so watching the same video SJCA high school students viewed today.  I pray the following video link will be a blessing to you.

Campus Ministries

October 24th, 2011

Throughout the year our students are lead by the Lord to minister to others. Last week, a parent contacted the school to see about raising funds for an area football player who was seriously injured. We sent the email below.

Dear Parents,

You may have already heard about a young man named Luis Morales whose life was changed forever. Luis Morales is a Junior football player for Vega. During Vega’s game against Wheeler on September 29th, Luis suffered a paralyzing spinal cord injury. Luis spent 2 weeks in ICU at NWTH and has been flown to Shriners Hospital in Sacramento, California for extensive rehab.

Area schools and organizations have embraced this family as they strive toward meeting the new needs of Luis. Those needs include travel expenses for the family and modifying their home and vehicle to promote wheelchair accessibility.

At SJCA, we are a loving family who takes care of one another during times like these.  Several other schools have passed the bucket at their football games and have been able to raise more than $20,000 collectively. We would like to join in these efforts.  That’s why we are giving you the opportunity to share the love of Christ with this family. Next Tuesday and Thursday, during the MS and HS football games, we will Pass the Bucket to raise funds for Luis. If you are unable to attend the games and would like to make a contribution to this cause please bring your donation to the Business Office by Wednesday at 4PM.

We are playing Vega next Thursday, October 27th. We will pass the bucket at the beginning of the game and announce the total amount raised by SJCA toward the end of the game.

The next day this envelope was under my door:

What an awesome God we have that He may be able to take this offering and multiply it!
