ACSI is the largest accrediting body of private and parochial schools in the world. In 1991, the Academy was accredited by meeting all of the requirements established by the Accrediting Commission of ACSI. Re-Accreditation was granted in 1997, 2004, and 2010. Accreditation is increasingly important in the complex world in which we live. Our desire is to see the doors of opportunity swing open as widely as possible for each student upon their graduation. This requires that we continue to pursue the highest levels of accountability and standards for excellence offered through accreditation.

History of SJCA

Sometime near the beginning of 1981, David C. Walker, then pastor of San Jacinto Baptist Church, envisioned a Christian school ministry with a balanced emphasis on both discipleship and intellectual training. Men and women, teachers and parents, community leaders and small children joined together as the dream gave birth to San Jacinto Christian Academy. Classes were first held on September 2, 1982 for kindergarten through third grade.

Sarah Archer was the school's first principal. She charted a safe and prosperous course as the foundation of the school was laid. Her influence is still felt and appreciated today.

In 1991 the Academy received accreditation for Kindergarten through Grade 12. It was that same year that the school graduated its first senior class under the direction of principal Carl Swindell.

In September 1992, San Jacinto Christian became an independent Christian school, with an autonomous, self-perpetuating board of trustees. Under the leadership of the board and principal Clayton Hubbart, the current facilities were purchased in November 1992. The stage was set; the future of the Academy seemed limitless.

In July 1993, Michael R. Pinkston accepted the position of superintendent at San Jacinto Christian with the goal of forging a new vision with the board of trustees to take the Academy into the next century. Mr. Pinkston brought to our school a passion for God and a drive for high academic standards. He developed a dream that will continue to help our school chart a new course into the future.

In July 1994, San Jacinto Christian was greatly blessed and further strengthened by uniting with West Texas Christian School. Our future seemed bright with the addition of Russ Reneau as secondary principal. Students, their families, and some extremely dedicated teachers also came from West Texas Christian School.

In the July 2001, Wanda Shaeffer joined the administration team as the curriculum director/elementary principal. Wanda initiated programs to advance curriculum, dyslexia classes, Accelerated Reader, and many new traditions. There exists great admiration and appreciation by Patriot families for her leadership.

In July 2004, Bill Rehrer became our second Superintendent at a time when the greatest opportunities lie before us. Bill brought a wealth of experience and depth entering his twenty-fifth year of ministry in education. He was committed to several key priorities, which included: (1) preparing students to be servant-leaders; (2) nurturing and developing teachers; (3) delivering world-view teaching in the classroom; and (4) building excellence in music, sports and other student activities. Bill Rehrer faithfully served San Jacinto Christian Academy for one year. Bill, his wife and his daughters were suddenly killed in an automobile accident on July 8, 2005.

LOOKING FORWARD
In February, 2006, Mark McKnight became our third Superintendent. Mark has a long history serving San Jacinto Christian as a board member and chairman of the board. Mark followed God's calling leaving the business workplace to lead San Jacinto Christian Academy. Mark is committed to maintaining the strong biblical foundation that our founders envisioned. Mark is implementing a bold vision including a major campus expansion project as well as an expanded academic program titled "Fearfully and Wonderfully Made."

In 26 years, San Jacinto Christian has grown from one man's dream to a new vision for this new millennium. With strong leadership, support from parents, and the blessing of God, San Jacinto promises to be one place that will make the difference in young people's lives. In turn, they will have the opportunity to make a difference in their generation. The Scripture, "Eye has not seen, nor ear has not heard, neither has it entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for them that love Him" (1 Corinthians 2:9) is the promise of God we are experiencing in these great days of blessings!

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible, authoritative, inerrant Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21).

2. We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:1;Matthew 28:19;John 10:30).

3. We believe in the deity of Christ (Matthew 3:17), His virgin birth (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23), His sinless life (Hebrews 4:15; 7:26), His miracles (John 2:11), His vicarious and atoning death (1 Corinthians 15:3; Ephesians 1:7), His bodily resurrection (John 11:25; 1 Corinthians 15:4), His ascension to the right hand of the Father (Mark 16:19), and His personal return in power and glory (Acts 1:11; Revelation 19:11).

4. We believe in the absolute necessity of regeneration by the Holy Spirit for salvation because of the exceeding sinfulness of human nature, and that men are justified on the single ground of faith in the shed blood of Christ. Only by God's grace and through faith alone we are saved (John 3:16-19; John 5:24; Romans 3:23; 5:8-9; Ephesians 2:8-10; Titus 3:5).

5. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life, and they that are lost unto the resurrection of punishment (John 5:28-29).

6. We believe that man was created by a direct act of God in His image, not from previously existing life (Genesis 1:1,22,27; 1 Corinthians 11:7; James 3:9).

7. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 12:12-13; Galatians 3:26-28).

8. We believe in the indwelling ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose presence the Christian is enabled to live a godly life (Romans 8:13-14; I Corinthians 3:16; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20; Ephesians 4:30; 5:18).
